We are the Cyber Phoenix, team 5527 from the International Academy of Flint. Being a rookie team has had its fair share of challenges, and in order to overcome these challenges we’ve had to learn how to rise in the world of competitive robot building. We are fueled by determination on this long road ahead and prepared to arrive at our destination at any time, a place that we like to call success.
Our team consists of 20+ members in and out of school who each have unique jobs. Our mentor, Todd Beard, is an experienced robot builder and leader in the community. He supports us 100% and believes our team will grow more and more over the years. We are committed to showing the future that is in robotics to our peers and developing a family through F.I.R.S.T (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). We stand by FIRST in every aspect and emphasize the importance of Science, Technology, Work Ethics, Team Building, and Mentoring all the way.

Business Plan
Cyber Phoenix Team #5527
International Academy of Flint’s Mission Statement:
“To inspire the learning of science and how to use technology that professional engineers use to build many of the common devices humans use everyday. Moreover, to learn many skills such as different programming languages that can bend anything we create to do our will; and most importantly learning how to combine the two to create real machines with real purposes.”

The People...The young men and women of International Academy of Flint started this venture into the robotics world, doing fabrication, programming, wiring, numismatics, working on apparel, social media and marketing. During this time we've actually gotten to work together not just play around in a room but actually work together and build this robot that is mostly consist of recycled parts that does similar things to what the veteran teams have built.
The Opportunity…We've been opened up to a realm of new opportunities that will help us prosper in this world of endeavors. Not only have we only worked on the robot that came from nothing but we've worked on ourselves volunteering doing things like; food, blood, and hygiene drives, dinners for the less privileged. Not only have we done things to help the unfortunate we've done things to benefit the youth like zombie runs, mentor the middle school robotics and teaching them the goals of FIRST.
The Risks and Rewards... The great rewards of joining “FIRST” is the amazing emotions of success not for winning awards but for building a robot that is mostly recycled parts. The thing about this is that there are no risk in doing robotics. Robotics is one of the few things where risk are rarely involved. The main risks are the safety risk.
FIRST’S Goal…“To show students of every age that science, technology, and problem solving are not only fun and rewarding, but are proven paths to successful careers and a bright future for us all.”
Team Summary:
This is actually International Academy of Flint’s first high school robotics team. We consist of ten middle school students and nineteen high school students. It's so amazing that there are so few people on our team yet so many different types of people. We have songwriters, singers, athletes, young geniuses, problem solvers and an amazing coach.
